Karen loved her family, friends, and her dogs unapologetically. Karen loved to laugh, talk on the phone with friends, watch her children and grandchildren play sports, be silly, become successful and happy. She was a proud member of the Teamsters Local 135. Karen Sue Kroics died at the early age of sixty-nine, in Indianapolis, Indiana. Karen died due to complications of cancer on September 15, 2025.
Karen was born in Medina, Ohio in 1956 to Arnold and Nancy Gregory, who adored her and her big brother, lifelong friend, and protector Richard. Karen attended and graduated from Medina Senior High School in 1974. After high school she took a job at Sharon Ornamental Iron.
Karen met the love of her life, Ed Kroics, while working at Markem in Chicago, Illinois. Excited to start their new lives together, the two were married in Medina Ohio on June 25, 1980.
Karen and Ed were blessed with four children. Mike Kroics and John Kroics were both teenagers when Karen and Ed married. Soon after they were married and not scared off by the teenagers Mike and John, they welcomed Eduards Allen Kroics, a climber of all things in the house as a toddler, wearing her out on a daily basis. Soon after Eduards came their beautiful, smart daughter Katrina Nancy. Karen was in awe and full of pride watching the continued success of her children.
Karen loved being a mother, but nothing prepared her for her favorite role as grandmother. She treasured her time with her grandkids and loved being their Mamaw, always trying her best to be at their many sporting events, school events, holidays, and birthdays. Her many grandchildren will miss her a great deal, Mikey, Luke, Abby, Jax, Kahlen, Gunner, Klara, Grahm, Grady, Josh, and Jamison. And sooner than she was ready for it she became a great grandmother to Jericho, Jurni, Thiago, Kyro, Bellamy, Violet, and Ripley.
Karen had a soft spot for dogs, treating each and every one like one of her kids. Her beloved Coco, a beautiful King Cavalier, was the dog she never got over losing. After Coco she had Bentley who passed away unexpectedly and then she got her Hershey boy, her alpha German Shepard in a Shih tzu body. Hershey loved to steal her food and was never sorry for it.
Karen was a proud 30-year Teamster, starting her career at Preston Trucking in August 1988. She transferred to Holland Trucking in 1999. In April 2001 she became a Titan Operator in the dues department at Teamsters Local 135 where she remained until her retirement in April 2015.
Karen will always be remembered for her strong, independent, and outspoken personality. She never missed an opportunity to yell at a ref or a coach for a call she disagreed with. We'll always imagine hearing her say "hey girlfriend" or "Hell NO'" one more time. We could not have asked for a better matriarch from the Kroics family, and we will miss Karen every day. It gives us all peace that she is reunited with her Ed in heaven watching over all of us. Their memory will live on in the hearts of all those who loved both of them.
Karen was preceded in death by her husband Ed (1995, her father, Arnold (1995), her son Mike (1996), her mother Nancy (2008). She is survived by her brother, Richard Gregory (Linda), sons, John Kroics (Pam), Eduards Kroics (Josie), daughter, Katrina Peters (Grant), 11 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, 2 nieces, Melissa, and Michelle and 4 great nieces and nephews and another on the way.
Karen and her family would like to personally thank the following individuals for their support during this difficult time, Debbie Vaughn, Sarah Reveard, Cindy, Sam Wiltheiss, and Austin Long.
The most precious gift you can give someone is the gift of your time-Unknown.
