Julie McEwan

November 26, 1947 — September 1, 2022

Indianapolis

Julie Ann McEwan, age 74, of Indianapolis, Indiana, passed away on September 1, 2022, at her home.

Julie was born on November 26, 1947, in Mankato, Minnesota, the second of three daughters, to Verle and Ella (Cowan) Taylor.

She graduated from Mankato High School in 1965 and attended Mankato State University. In 1969, she married Phillip Calvin Homme in Nicollet, Minnesota. They had no children. She later married Timothy Scott McEwan, who preceded her in death in 2010.

Julie had a winsome smile, a zest for life, and loved having fun. She was kind and generous, was fiercely loyal to her friends and doted on her nieces and nephews. She had a passion for animals, especially cats, and was involved in the rescue and adoption of ferals and strays. She often herself kept those who had special needs and were “unadoptable”.

She and her husband Tim owned and operated American Speedy Printing in Eden Prairie, MN, but her secret ambition was event and party planning, which she did with a flair. She entertained neighbors, family and friends at graduations, weddings, and parties of all kinds. Julie always loved a good party!

Julie is survived by her mother, Ella Frahm of Davenport, Iowa; two sisters: Patricia (Lou) Felix of Payson, Arizona, and Scotty (Gary) Spohr of Fishers, Indiana; 3 stepbrothers: David Frahm of Colorado Springs, Colorado; Steven (Audrey) Frahm of Plantation, Florida; Tim Frahm of Davenport, Iowa; and 1 stepsister, Kathy Frahm of Davenport, Iowa. She is also survived by 1 stepson, Josh (Erika) McEwan of St. Louis Park, Minnesota, 4 step grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She will be greatly missed by the many who loved her.

Julie requested to be cremated, with no accompanying service. Memorial contributions can be made to Rescue Crew, Inc., a Minnesota-based animal rescue organization, dedicated to saving and adopting animals that are homeless, abused, abandoned, or neglected.
