Obituary for Juliana Frances Harris (née Monroe)

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Juliana “Julie” Frances Harris, who left us on October 10, 2025, at the age of 81 surrounded by family and friends.

Born on May 15, 1944, in Stevens Point, WI, Julie lived a life full of love, generosity, and steadfast grace. She was a beloved parent, grandparent, sister, and friend—someone whose presence brought warmth and calm to those around her. Julie graduated from P.J. Jacobs High School in Stevens Point and went on to earn a degree in Speech Therapy from the University of Wisconsin–Stevens Point. She devoted her life to helping others—both professionally and personally—with kindness and unwavering support.

Julie dedicated 32 years of her career to serving others at Alpha Center, where she earned the respect and admiration of her colleagues, clients, and community. Julie especially valued her involvement as a member of High Street United Methodist Church, the Alpha Chapter of Psi Iota Xi, the Ball Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, board member of Habitat for Humanity, board member of Ball State University Center for Vital Aging, and on the executive board of United Way of Delaware County. Through each of these roles, she gave generously of her time, compassion, and quiet leadership.

Above all, Mama Jules—also known affectionately as Nana Jules—loved her family deeply and unconditionally. She cherished time with her grandchildren and gathering with friends.

Julie is survived by her daughter, Andrea Fredericks (Thomas) of Westfield, IN; her son, Christopher Harris of Denver, CO; her sister, Christine Kalvelage of Madison, WI; and her beloved grandchildren: Rachel Fredericks of Austin, TX; Sarah Fredericks of Columbus, OH; Leah Fredericks of Westfield, IN; and many loving cousins, nephews, nieces, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Dorothy (Loew) Monroe and William Monroe, and her sister, Suzanne (Monroe) Ferkey.

Memorial contributions may be made in Julie’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Association or to a local community organization close to your heart.

Though Mama Jules is no longer with us, her kindness, laughter, and unwavering love will remain in our hearts forever.
