Judith Ann Shuppert, affectionately known as Judie, passed away peacefully at her home on April 20, 2026 after a courageous 16 year battle with cancer. Judie spent the last week of her life surrounded by the love of family and friends, held closely by those who meant the most to her.

Born in Chicago, Illinois, to Elvin and Vivian Shuppert, Judie carried with her a strong work ethic and an uncanny commitment to excellence. She was a twenty year, dedicated employee of Safeway Logistics, where she found not only a career, but also a cherished work family. Judie was happiest when in the garden tending to her plants with care and pride. She was an expert “treasure hunter,” uncovering unique items at Goodwill and local consignment shops around Indy. And occasionally, you would find Judie at a casino, enjoying the slot machines with her sister Patty. Whether she was organizing a filing cabinet, caring for her home and garden, or helping someone she loved, one thing was always true - Judie approached everything she did with her trademark attention to detail and unwavering persistence.

Judie’s greatest joy in life was her family. She loved deeply, gave generously, and cared for her people with a devotion that was steady, selfless, and had no limits. Her grandchildren were the heart of her world, and her proudest accomplishment was when she shed the title of grandmother and took on the role of full time mother to three of her granddaughters when they were four, six and nine years old. Judie provided her girls with a foundation and opportunities they otherwise wouldn’t have had, and created a home for them that was filled with love, stability, and guidance. Her love for them was one of the clearest reflections of who she was. Judie showed up every day with patience, strength, and tenderness. She did what needed to be done, gave without needing recognition, and created a foundation that shaped their lives in lasting and meaningful ways. The love she poured into them will continue to live on through the women they have become.

Judie was preceded in death by her parents, Elvin and Vivian Shuppert, and her two older brothers, Danny and Paul Shuppert. She is survived by and will be lovingly remembered by her lifelong companion, Andy Town; her two sons, Brad and Chris Medvescek; her beloved sister, Patty Medvescek; her granddaughters, Chelsea Collisi (Jake), Cassie Medvescek, Trista Kane, Reigan Waldon and Lilian Medvescek; and her grandson, Dax Medvescek.

A visitation to honor Judie’s memory will be held on May 9, 2026, from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at Indiana Funeral Care North – Harry W. Moore Chapel, 8151 Allisonville Road, Indianapolis, IN 46250. A memorial service will follow at 2:00 p.m., offering family and friends an opportunity to gather, remember, and celebrate a life beautifully lived.

Judie leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, resilience, and devotion. Those who knew her will remember her gentle spirit, her generous heart, her strength through hardship, and the deep love she gave so freely to her family and to Andy. Her life was a beautiful example of what it means to love fully, show up faithfully, and hold close the people who matter most.
