Judith Ann Ratliff, affectionately known as Judy, passed away peacefully on May 20, 2026, in Indianapolis, Indiana after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Born on December 11, 1943, in Marion, Indiana, Judy lived a life marked by compassion, dedication, and a deep love for those around her.
Judy’s remarkable professional career spanned over 30 years in the telecommunications industry. She was employed by AT&T and Indiana Bell. Judy’s career took her to special assignments in New Jersey and London, where she cultivated many meaningful connections, forging lifelong friendships including those with Jill and John. Her work was characterized by a commitment to excellence and a genuine care for her colleagues.
Educationally, Judy was a proud member of the Mississinewa High School class of 1961 in Gas City, Indiana. She continued her academic pursuits at Butler University, where she graduated in 1965 with a bachelor’s degree. Throughout her life, she carried with her the values and knowledge gained during these formative years.
Known for her caring, loving, and giving personality, Judy touched the lives of many. She was an avid sports enthusiast, passionately rooting for Indiana University, Butler, and the Indiana Fever. Later in life Judy expressed her creativity through crafting, especially enjoying making wreaths that she gifted to friends and family. Her love for reading and her culinary skills enriched her personal world and those of the people she loved. A devoted world traveler, she relished international trips with her friends, always embracing new experiences and cultures. Above all, Judy treasured her friendships, continuously building and nurturing bonds that endured throughout her lifetime. Her affection extended to her beloved dogs, Barnaby, Chelsea, and Maggie, who were cherished members of her family.
Judy is remembered by her sisters Marilyn Barnett, Pamela Hutchison, Barbara (Ed) Cooper, and Kathy (John) Larsen, along with several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins, all of whom held her in great esteem. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Mary Opal Ratliff; her sister, Patricia Sachse; and her second parents, Katie and Paul Fluhrer.

Judith Ann Ratliff’s spirit, kindness, and zest for life left an indelible mark on all who knew her. Her legacy will be remembered and cherished by her family, friends, and all whose lives she touched.
