Judith Ann Adams-Gilbert, 78, of Greenfield, IN, passed away peacefully on June 18 ,2026, at St. Vincent Hospital, Indianapolis.
Judie was born October 29, 1947, in Indianapolis to Elza and Alice Adams. She was raised in Speedway, Indiana and was a graduate of Northwest High School. In 1969 she married Jack Gilbert. Soon after they moved to New Palestine, IN and started a family. Judie had two children, Chris and Stacey. When her children were young, Judie was a homemaker. Her house was a revolving door for neighborhood kids running in and out. There was always a blanket fort set up in the family room and the pool was always open.
Judie was a woman of many talents. She enjoyed baking, sewing, crafts, and from a young age she was an avid reader. She could read an entire stack of books from the library in just a few days. Most recently, Judie spent her time building Lego’s and had a large collection she loved to show off.
Throughout her life Judie was a member of many different women's groups, bible study groups, and was always first to volunteer where needed. She made many friends over the years that she considered family. She had a heart of gold and would do anything for anyone in need. She was very proud of her grandchildren and was so excited to add great grandma to her title back in January.
Judie is survived by her son, Chris Gilbert of Freetown; daughter Stacey (Jason) Griffith of New Palestine; grandchildren, Jacob, Evan (Maddie), Nick; great granddaughter Evelyn; brother Dennis (Barb) Adams; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Elza and Alice Adams, and her previous husband and best friend Jack Gilbert.
Friends and family may visit from 10a.m with funeral service starting at noon, on Thursday July 2, at New Palestine United Methodist Church 3565 S 500 W New Palestine, IN 46163.
