Juanita Fay Covert, 93, of Greenwood, Indiana, passed peacefully into the presence of the Lord on March 25, 2026. She was born September 17, 1932, in Indianapolis to Forest and Sylvia Gribben. Juanita lived a life centered on faith, family, and love. She had a gentle way about her and a quiet, practical wisdom that made people feel comforted, understood and never alone. She was the kind of person others turned to, and her presence brought peace and reassurance to those around her.
She is survived by her children, Diana Helmick, Tim (Debbie) Covert; grandchildren, Rachel (Charlie) Tucker, Sarah (John) Warman, Melissa Helmick, Cory (Lindsay) Fellers, Kevin (Shelly) Fellers, Caleb (Jordan) Fellers, Casey Fellers, Tami Covert, and TC (Jeanna) Covert; Great grandchildren, Alex, Noah, Michael, Carlie, Autumn, Nicholas, Anastasia, Savannah, Maliyah, Isaiah, Grace, Aria, Leila, Lainey, Elijah, Rylee, Brooklyn, Declan, Matthew, Zachary, Carlie, and Hailey; and great great grandchild Esmae; and one nephew Gary (Lee) Jones.
Juanita was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 67 years, Jim; her son Danny; her daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Terry Fellers; son-in-law, Ronald Helmick; and her sister, Eileen “Sissy” Jones.
Juanita’s life was defined by simple joys and a heart for others. She worked with Avon for over four decades, earning many Presidents Club awards and making lifelong friends along the way. She was a devoted member of Southwest Church of the Nazarene, and active in many ministries—helping with meals and singing in the choir. Her favorite saying, “This too shall pass,” was a reassurance she shared with all who knew her.
Juanita believed deeply in the importance of time spent together, and she lovingly planned every family vacation—creating memories that will be cherished for generations. In later years, she continued her love of travel with her husband, Jim, and her son, Danny, as well as on special trips with her church friends. She was proud to have visited all 50 states and many meaningful places across the country and abroad, including the Holy Lands, and countless other destinations that enriched her life.
Her joyful spirit shined in everything she did. She loved roller skating, visiting amusement parks, and taking shopping trips with dear friends. Even at 70, her adventurous heart never dimmed—she joined her family at an amusement park and rode every roller coaster, embracing life with enthusiasm and courage.
Juanita lived simply, yet her love was abundant. She treasured her large, close‑knit family and the weekends spent with her grandchildren at her home. Long afternoons of Monopoly, faith bingo, laughter, and poolside fun became treasured traditions. She delighted in school field trips with her grandchildren and found great joy in the small, everyday moments that created a lifetime of warmth and security for those she loved.
A visitation will be held on Monday, April 6, from 4:00 - 7:00 PM at Indiana Funeral Care West. Visitation will continue on Tuesday, April 7, from 10:00 AM until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 AM. She will then be laid to rest at Floral Park Cemetery.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Life’s Journey Hospice for the loving care and support they provided—not only to Juanita, but to our entire family during this time. Their compassion and kindness brought comfort when it was needed most, and we are deeply grateful.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Southwest Church of the Nazarene.
