Joy Lynn (Sutton) Tucker, age 69, passed away on Monday, March 16, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer. Joy was born on October 31, 1956, in Batesville, Indiana, to George L. and Sara E. (Farrow) Sutton. She graduated from Morristown High School in 1974 and married Jim Tucker on March 22, 1975. They were married for fifty years.
She is survived by her husband, Jim; daughter, Jessica (Erik) Barnett, Indianapolis; son, Justin Tucker, Indianapolis; mother, Sara, Indianapolis; grandchildren Felix Ballard, Savannah Tucker, Veronica Barnett, and Artemis Barnett; sister Susan Meredith, Arlington, Indiana; and brother Paul (Karen) Sutton, Rushville, Indiana, as well as many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins, and many dear friends. She was preceded in death by her father, George Sutton, and grandparents Charles and Ollie Sutton and Henry and Ina Farrow.
Jim and Joy spent twenty years entertaining children as Santa and Mrs. Claus. Joy loved to travel in their camper and spend time with her grandchildren. She spent many hours singing with her granddaughter, Savannah. Her grandchildren Felix, Veronica, and Artemis will fondly remember spending the night at Grammy and Pappy’s, playing games, and going shopping after their birthdays with Grammy. Joy’s son and daughter will cherish the times cleaning with her when they were children, dancing to John Cougar Mellencamp, the Carpenters, and the Monkees. Joy also enjoyed visiting cemeteries, shopping at Kohls, and playing cards with her friends.
Over her lifetime, Joy worked at Fifth Third Bank, SunTrust Bank, and First Indiana Bank. She retired from Lee Supply Corp. in 2018. She was a member of Morristown Christian Church and a faithful servant of the Lord.
Joy made an impression on everyone she met and she will be sorely missed. There will be no services. Indiana Funeral Care in Greenwood will be handling her cremation. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Indiana University Simon Cancer Center at https://cancer.iu.edu/giving/memorial.html
