Joseph Scott Steadham, age 53, passed away on October 21, 2026. Born October 4, 1973, in Indianapolis, Indiana, Joe was the son of Arthur and Carol Steadham and was proudly raised in Covington, Georgia. In later years he made his home in Danville, IN, and more recently in the mountains of Tennessee.
Joe served in the United States Army, a reflection of the steady work ethic and sense of purpose that guided his life. He carried a deep love of God and his country, and he met the world with an adventurous spirit—drawn to open water and quiet mornings fishing, to the woods while hunting, and to the challenge and freedom of off-roading. An excellent cook, he brought people together in the simple, lasting ways that matter most. A dreamer by nature, Joe approached what he set his hand to with determination, and he spent his life seeking opportunities to help others—leaving behind a legacy that will be cherished.
Joe is survived by his wife, Candice Steadham; daughter, Whitney Philhower; sons, Chyler Murdico and Kenneth Steadham; one grandchild; and many other extended family members and loving friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Carol and Arthur, along with many other extended family members.
A Celebration of Joe’s life will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, November 6, 2026, at Calvary Chapel of Danville.
