It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of John Blaine Vandy Jr., age 71, of Coatsville, Indiana, who left us peacefully at his home on August 17, 2025.
Born on January 14, 1954, in Indianapolis, Indiana, John was the cherished son of the late John B. Vandy Sr. and Elizabeth (Jones) Vandy.John's life was a testament to love, adventure, and a deep appreciation for the simple joys.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 40 years, Teresa A. (Shull) Vandy, who was not only his partner but also his best friend. Together, they shared a life filled with laughter, love, and countless memories, including their cherished fur babies—Holly, Pugsley, Daisy May, and Gidget—who brought them endless joy.
A proud graduate of Southport High School, John went on to earn his ASE Certification as an Automotive Paint Technician, dedicating 13 years of his career to IAC. His passion for cars was only rivaled by his love for motorsports. John was an avid fan of NASCAR and Indy Car Racing, often found cheering from the stands at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway during the Brickyard and Indy 500. He cherished the memories of an unforgettable trip to Texas Motor Speedway with his friends, a testament to his adventurous spirit.
John and Teresa shared a profound love for the great outdoors, embarking on many camping trips throughout the year with their trailer, creating lasting memories under the stars. Known as the "Best Guy," John had a magnetic personality that drew people in. His friendly demeanor and ability to connect with anyone he met made him a beloved figure in his community.
John's legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all those whose lives he touched with his kindness and warmth.
