John Gerald Buford, 64, was welcomed into the loving arms of his Lord and Savior on July 3, 2026.
Born to J.W. and Virgie Buford, John was the youngest of five children. He graduated from Mishawaka High School in 1981 and He worked as an electrician with IBEW Local 153 for nearly 25 years. After retiring, he spent just under 8 years as a parts runner and driver for Zolman Tire. He enjoyed both jobs and was known for his dedication and reliability in each.
John was a devoted father, present grandfather, and a man whose family meant everything to him. He was always willing to help others, offered a listening ear, loved a good laugh, and was cherished by all who knew him.
He is survived by his daughters, Alicia (Garret) Mitschelen and Breanne (Jordan) Otolski; his five beloved grandchildren, Isiah, Harlow, Hudson, Everly, and Elsie; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. John also leaves behind many dear friends, neighbors, and coworkers who became an extension of his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents and all four of his siblings.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, July 19, from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. at Marion Magnolia Farms in Cassopolis, Michigan. The service will begin promptly at 3:00 p.m., with fellowship to follow.
