Jessica June Lee Battle was born on January 19, 1948, to the late Daniel Jacks and Mae Flora Lee.
She accepted Christ at an early age at Universal Church and later united with Galilee Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Fitzhugh Lyons, where she worshiped faithfully alongside her devoted husband, Juan D. Battle.
Jessica dedicated her life to serving others. She retired from law enforcement in 1987 after 13 years of service and later retired from the transit industry in 2010, also after more than 13 years of service. Throughout her career, she built lifelong friendships, received numerous recognitions, and found joy in working with the public.
Family was Jessica’s greatest joy. Her home was always a place filled with love, the aroma of home-cooked meals, and the laughter of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was present for life’s milestones—births, birthdays, school programs, graduations, weddings, and reunions. Nothing brought her greater happiness than celebrating and encouraging the growth and success of her family.
Jessica was preceded in death by her beloved mother, Mae Flora Lee; her brother, George Rice; her son, James Boone Jr.; and her grandson, Christopher Brown.
She leaves to cherish her memory her loving husband, Juan D. Battle; her daughter, Crystal (Ralph) George; her sons, Kevin (Regina) Boone and Grant (Kammie) Mosley; a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren; caring in-laws; nieces and nephews; and many friends whose lives she touched deeply.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 11, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Indiana Funeral Care, 8151 Allisonville Road. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association in Jessica’s honor.
