Jerry Thomas Moxley

June 8, 1947 — August 16, 2020

Jerry Thomas Moxley, 73, of North Salem, Indiana passed away on August 16, 2020 peacefully surrounded by family and friends. A “Homegoing” Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, August 29, 2020 at 4:00pm at 10090 North State Road 75, North Salem, Indiana. We will commemorate his life by sharing memories of love, laughter, and joy. Please dress casually for an outdoor service and bring all your stories to share with everyone.

Jerry was born on June 8, 1947 in Lebanon, Indiana to parents Wyatt Milburn (1976) and Florence Matilda (2012) Moxley. He was preceded in death by his cousin, Junior Bennett, as well as nephews – David, Kevin, Jim and his grandson, Chris. As a graduate of North Salem High School in 1965, Jerry went to work for Indianapolis Power & Light and onto Waddell Battery Company before pursuing his true passion by establishing Moxley Custom Remodeling in 1983.

A beloved husband, father, papaw and friend, Jerry was survived by his wife Beth, son Andy (Andrea) and daughter Cheryl (Mark). He was blessed with eight grandchildren – Kevin, Matt (Danielle), Lauren, Sara (Kyle), Mariah, Savannah, Tessa, and Gabby as well as four great-grandchildren – Jaidyn, Landon, Blakely, and Willow Grey. Jerry was fortunate to have many nieces and nephews who all held a very special place in his heart.

In addition to the joy of spending time with family and friends, Jerry was an avid fisherman and loved taking his boats out on the lake. Working with his hands was not only his occupation, but his hobby. He took great pleasure using his “big toys”, especially when he could backhoe a pond or fire up his tractor to pull out a tree. His favorite winter pastime was baking and candy making. Jerry was known around town for his special oatmeal cookies and always had a jar full for his grandkids, nieces, and nephews. He loved to bake homemade dinner rolls and tasked to make all things “Roselyn Bakery” when they closed. Jerry never knew a stranger, greeted everyone with a warm-hearted handshake and was always willing to help someone in distress. Friends and family remember him best for his candid humor, hearty laugh, gentle nature, and his willingness to do anything for the ones he loved. Jerry was a devoted husband, caring father, affectionate papaw, loyal friend and deeply loved by all who knew him. He will be missed but remembered forever.
