Jerry Edward Satterly

August 26, 1941 — April 6, 2024

Indianapolis

Jerry Edward Satterly was born on August 26, 1941 to parents Eugene and Margaret in Charlestown, Indiana. Both parents are deceased. Jerry was the oldest of nine children. Sisters: Peggy Ray (deceased), Joyce Satterly (deceased), Janet Thompson, Linda Antrim and Annie Cunningham. Brothers: Michael Satterly (deceased), Ron Dunn and David Satterly.

Jerry met his wife Mary when he was sixteen years old and they were married in December of 1959. Together they have three children James Satterly (Patty), Kimberly Satterly and Tambra Jackson. They have five grandchildren Christina Copeland (Jeremy), Jeffrey Satterly, Hollie Holbach (Dan), Samantha Roach (Luke) and Joshua Jackson. They also have two great grandchildren Riley James Holbach and Blake Edward Holbach.

Jerry graduated from Arsenal Technical high school in 1960. He went on to take heavy equipment training in Des Moines, Iowa. He worked for Dotlich Inc. from age 18 until he retired at age 62. Jerry was a long standing member of IUOE Local 103 for almost 60 years. He had an outstanding reputation as a crane operator and assisted in many building projects in and around Indiana and neighboring states. He helped build what was then known as the Hoosier Dome, the Circle City Mall and for many years held the ABC camera crew up on a platform to film the Indianapolis 500 mile race.

Jerry coached his children for many years in baseball and softball and continued to watch their games when his coaching days were over. He later joined them as adults to play softball on a coed team called the Dinosaur’s. Later he continued to watch his grandchildren at their baseball and softball games. Jerry loved camping, fishing, bowling and playing cards but most of all he loved his family and friends - (closely followed by) Pepsi, Hershey Bars and ice cream. Jerry’s life changed at age 62 when he was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease. Gradually all the wonderful memories of family and friends faded away to some unknown place. That being said we ask that any contribution you may choose to make go to the Alzheimer’s Association so that some day no family will have to go through losing a loved one to this terrible disease. Jerry left this earth on April 6th, 2024 at age 82 to finally be at peace with his Heavenly Father. He will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved him.
