Jeanette Mingus

Jeanette Mingus was born to Jewel and Leora Smithson in Cason, Texas on August 19, 1933. She passed away from this life on May 23, 2024. 

Jeanette is preceded in death by her parents, her son, Robert Kevin Mingus, and her siblings, Dorothy Lambert, and Harold Smithson.

She is survived by her husband, Robert; children, Kerrie Smarrella (Tony), Kelly Hoke, and Kent (Charla) Mingus; sister, Pat Nix; nine grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren. 

Jeanette showed her love and care through the years as a loving wife and mother, through her wonderful cooking, sewing, gardening, canning, writing encouraging cards and letters, and listening. She loved attending her grandchildren and great children’s events and always gave cards and gifts for birthdays and special occasions. 

Jeanette was a faithful member of the Light and Life Free Methodist Church, where she and her husband Robert were married on February 4, 1955.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at the Light and Life Free Methodist Church at 8264 E County 100 S., Avon, IN 46123 on Saturday, June 1st at 12:00pm. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 10:00am-12:00pm. Burial to follow at West Ridge Park Cemetery, Indianapolis. 

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Jeanette’s honor to the Light and Life Free Methodist food pantry or building fund.
