Jayne Mathews-Sheets, 63, of Lebanon, Indiana, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on August 4, 2026, at her home.
Born on July 14, 1963, to Bennie and Nancy Mathews, Jayne was a proud 1982 graduate of Western Boone Jr.-Sr. High School. She dedicated many years of her life to serving others through her work at Witham Hospital, where her compassionate heart and desire to help people touched countless lives.
Above all else, Jayne was a faithful follower of Jesus Christ. Her faith was the cornerstone of her life. She began every morning in prayer and ended every evening in prayer, trusting God through every joy and every trial. She lived her faith daily through her kindness, generosity, compassion, and unconditional love for others. If you knew Jayne, you knew the warmth of her smile, the comfort of her hugs, and the genuine love she had for everyone she met.
Jayne never met a stranger. She loved spending time with her family and friends, especially her nine grandchildren, who brought immeasurable joy to her life. Whether she was tending to her garden, baking something delicious, relaxing with a coloring book, caring for her beloved animals, or participating in Fright Forest, she found happiness in creating memories with those she loved most.
She is survived by her loving husband, Jeff Sheets; her sons, Darren (Amanda) Mathews and Kyle Mathews, both of Lebanon; her cherished grandchildren: Chris, Braedyn, Kyleigh, Maria, Kenzlei, Jaxsyn, Levi, Aubriella, and Emberleigh; siblings, Brian, Allison, and Charlotte; along with many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Bennie and Nancy Mathews.
Jayne's greatest legacy is not found in the years she lived, but in the faith she shared, the love she gave so freely, and the countless lives she touched with her caring heart. While she will be deeply missed every day, her family finds comfort in knowing she has heard the words she longed for: "Well done, good and faithful servant." Matthew 25:23
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to assist her son, Kyle Mathews, during this difficult time. The family sincerely appreciates the prayers, love, and support shown as they celebrate Jayne's life and everlasting hope she found in Jesus Christ.
