Janice Marie (Cooley) Farber, 78, of Noblesville, passed away peacefully Monday, July 6th at Riverview Health surrounded by her family.

Jan was born in Indianapolis Indiana to Beverly B. (Bolton) Cooley and Harlan R. Cooley and was the eldest of four children. She graduated from Pike High School and attended classes at Indiana State College.

Jan met her husband of 44 years, Paul, while working at the Kroger Bakery in Indianapolis, and they married on May 15, 1982.

Together, they enjoyed traveling, camping with family friends and their long-time camping group from Trinity. She took part in and led many bible study groups, enjoyed gardening, and raised many pets. She was very active in the church serving on alter guild, Trinity Circle where she was president for several years, choir, and worked the food pantry at Trinity Lutheran. In addition to her church activities, Jan took part in Job’s Daughters and Eastern Star for many years, The Red Hat Society, and bowling.

Before retiring, Jan enjoyed being a teaching assistant and substitute teacher at Skiles Test and Trinity Lutheran School. When work and groups weren’t keeping her busy, her hobbies were sewing, crocheting, reading, and crafting.

Jan is survived by her beloved husband Paul, and her two daughters, Elizabeth Parks (Brandon), Sarah Farber, grandsons Asher, Oliver, and Sawyer, brother Gar Cooley (Tudy), sister Barbara Ann Cooley, lifelong best friend Vivian Shelley (Bill), three God children, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Jan is preceded in death by her parents, Beverly B. and Harlan R. Cooley, brother Ray Cooley, grandparents Beatrice Bolton, Floyd Bolton, Marie Cooley, and Leonard Cooley, aunt Marie Havens, and uncles Thomas F Havens and Thomas E Bolton.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, July 13th, 2026 at 2pm followed by fellowship and light refreshments. The service will be held at Bethal Lutheran Church located at 20650 Cumberland Rd Noblesville, Indiana 46062.
