Janet S. Giegerich, 86, of Fishers, Indiana passed away peacefully surrounded by family on September 5, 2024.
She lived a complete life. 86 years ain't bad!!
She Grew up in Wisconsin and moved to Pittsburgh where she met her husband Jack. The two of them moved often following opportunities; Meanwhile, they went about creating an incredible family with four kids!
Mom may be the BIGGEST three letter word. And this mom set a BIG example.
She cared for and raised four children. She was not just a mom, but the biggest fan at: baseball, swimming, junior achievement, gymnastics, and any other activity “du jour”.
She was a confidant, an advisor, a cheerleader, a drill Sergeant, and a shoulder to lean on.
Janet read voraciously. She demonstrated what a lifelong learner looks like. She tackled the amazing challenge to earn Certification as an Emergency Medical Technician in her early middle years. She was active civically and revered in the towns to which she contributed so much.
In another mi- life adventure, she flew out to California, as a new Baskin Robbins franchisee where she graduated from Baskin Robbins University with an advanced degree in scoopology.
Janet rode a motorcycle, drove a corvette and Trans am, is referred to by her grandkids as the “fun grandma” and was just plain cool!!
She and my sister Tracey traveled the world and left their mark; my friends from Spain shared vivid recollections of my mom’s antics and interactions.
One can't help but smile when you reflect on the impact left by my mom. She was fun, funny, and forever a family fan. She bragged about her husband, children, grandkids and great grandkids. She makes us smile. I have vintage voicemails from Janet that I replay often. They serve as a reminder that my mom lived life to its fullest; she cared dearly about others; she left an impact that will endure and inspire.
Of course, our family wishes to acknowledge and thank all of the staff and her fellow residents from Independence Village; while her time here was relatively brief, our family was comforted knowing that all of you are so kind, considerate and welcoming. She made great friends here!
With fond memories, many of which will bubble up in the days that come and again at times when we may be reflective, we can all be content that Janet Susan Giegerich lived life admirably. May she rest in peace!
