Jane Ann Humphries

Jane Ann (Cangany) Humphries, 70 years old, passed from this life on August 24, 2022. She was born on June 15, 1952 to the late Joseph M. and Joanna T. Cangany in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Jane graduated from Bishop Chatard High School in 1971. On April 20, 1974, Jane and Kenneth were united in marriage. The following year, they welcomed a daughter, Tracie, into the world. She was a loyal wife and loving mother.

Jane was a dedicated Deli and Bakery Manager for Marsh Supermarkets around central Indiana and retired after nearly 30 years of service. She took great pride in her job and was skilled in cake decorating. Her co-workers found her to be sweet, fun loving, and one-of-a-kind.

Jane liked playing bingo and taking trips to the casino. She enjoyed watching her favorite shows, including Golden Girls and Little House on the Prairie. Jane loved spending time with her family. Holidays were important to her and she cherished spending them with her family. She enjoyed our tradition of baking holiday cookies to share with everyone.

Over the years, she took care of all of her family. Many would go to her for advice and direction because they valued her opinion and honesty. She would tell you how it was in a loving way and be there to support you along the journey. She was selfless and many times put others ahead of herself. Jane was a friend to many and loved by all. She will truly be missed.

She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Kenneth T. Humphries; daughters, Tracie (David) Kelley and Chris Steel; grandchildren, Ashley, Joseph, and Derek Kelley, Topher, Angel, and Jacob Steel, Cody (Morgan) Lindsay, Tori (Brody) Comer; 6 great-grandchildren; brother, Mark Cangany; sister, Angela Hayes; brothers-in-law, Joseph (Joann) Humphries and Jerry (Rita) Humphries; sisters-in-law, JoCarolyn (Carl) Koneig and Ruth (Barry) Durbin; nephews, David and Daniel Cangany, Michael and Jason (Rhonda) Humphries, and Jeremy (Kelly) Gannon; nieces, Carey (Tony) Brummett, Kirstin Bauer, Jessica (Wendy) White, Michelle (Keith) Nuckols, Jenn Humphries, Christy (Trevor) Smith, Megan (Ricky) Muse, Chelsea (Fernando) Herrera, and Brooke McDonald; and a host of extended family and friends.

Jane is preceded in death by her parents; brother, Mike Cangany; sister, Dee Cangany; brother-in-law, Tony Hayes; sisters-in-law, Barb Humphries and Cathy Olave-Valdez; and niece, Melisa Hernandez.

Service will be held on August 27, 2022 at Indiana Funeral Care, Harry W. Moore Chapel located at 8151 Allisonville Road, Indianapolis, IN 46250. Visitation will be from 10 am to 12 pm. Service will be at noon with burial following at 1:30 pm at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens located at 9700 Allisonville Road, Indianapolis, IN 46250.
