James Elbert Rogers, of Greenwood, Indiana, passed away on September 15, 2026, in Greenwood. He was born on September 21, 1964, in Corbin, Kentucky.
James was a truck driver for many years, a line of work that suited his independent spirit and steady nature. He was a man who loved the outdoors and the simple pleasures that made life meaningful. Camping held a special place in his heart, especially trips to Brown County, Indiana. He also loved fishing and spent many years enjoying time on the water. NASCAR was another of his great interests, with Dale Earnhardt Sr. and Dale Earnhardt Jr. among his favorites. He also took special pride in his Ford F150 Cobra truck.
Those who knew James will remember his personality as much as his interests. He loved to tell stories and was very much a build-your-own-adventure kind of guy, someone who embraced life in his own way and brought that spirit to the people around him. Above all, he loved his family very much, and that love remained at the center of his life.
He is survived by his children, Alyssa Harmon, Nate Rogers, and LaDonna Grube. He also leaves behind his grandchildren, Julian Harmon, Noah Harmon, Elijah Grube, Jace Harmon, Oliver Grube, Rowan Rogers, and Jacob Rogers, who were an important part of his family circle. James is also survived by his sisters, Nancy Rogers and Virginia Rogers. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him, and his memory will continue to live on in the stories shared, the time spent outdoors, and the love he gave to his family.
He was preceded in death by his father, Jay Rogers, and his mother, Geraldine (Reese) Rogers.
A memorial gathering will be held on September 23, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Indiana Funeral Care - Greenwood Chapel, 2433 E. Main St., Greenwood, IN 46143.
