James LeTourneau

September 24, 1925 — March 20, 2024

James Chenoweth LeTourneau (Jim) was born September 24, 1925, in Modesto, California, to Joseph William LeTourneau and Marcelline Porter LeTourneau. Jim graduated from Shortridge High School in Indianapolis, IN. He completed 2 years at Wheaton College, Wheaton, IL, before enlisting in the U.S. Navy. In the Navy, he completed the Electronics Training Program during World War II and finished his service after the war in the South Pacific, on Marcus Island, as a Petty Officer, 3rd Class. He was honorably discharged in June of 1946. He graduated from Butler University in Indianapolis. As a CPA, he worked in the field of accounting and banking in Indianapolis, Peru, South America, and Reno, NV, retiring from Nevada First Thrift in 1988. After retirement he volunteered in accounting with HCJB Hospital in Ecuador, Wycliffe Ministries, and most recently, Rio Grande Bible Ministries.

Jim was married to Bobbe Louise Earle in Indianapolis in 1948. Jim and Bobbe enjoyed 62 years of marriage. They had 4 children and 6 grandchildren. In 2011 Jim married Laura Mae McCullum. Jim and Laura enjoyed over 12 years together.

Jim was preceded in death by his wife, Bobbe, and by his grandson, Nathan LeTourneau. He is survived by his wife, Laura, and his 4 children, Janet (Glenn) Mohs, Gary (Joan) LeTourneau, Jo Beth LeTourneau, and Sylvia (Andrew) Lynch. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Diana (Bayrex), Daniel (Rebecca), Jason, Amanda (Brendon), Ansel, and Ben, and his great-grandchildren, Aragon, Lucy, and Addison. Jim very much enjoyed being "Papa Jim" with his step-family, Dona (Mark) Foster, Cindy (David) Peace, Russell (Catherine) McCullum, and Janet (Mike) Durr. He is also survived by his step-grandchildren Rachel, Andrew, Laura, Peter, Timothy, Joshua, Emily, Nathan, and Erin (Mark), and his step-great grandchildren Pearl and Sophie.

Jim was a lifelong believer and entered eternity in sure confidence and hope in his Savior, Jesus Christ, on March 20, 2024. He is loved and missed.

Services are planned for June 1, 2024, at 11:00 a.m., at Hope Church, 2500 East 98th Street, Indianapolis, IN 46280.
