James "Jim" Dale Gibson

Jim passed away peacefully on August 31, 2024, knowing he was loved by his family and friends. He was born in Madison, Indiana on May 27, 1948 to John and Marie Gibson.

Jim had fond memories of his childhood in Madison and graduated from Madison Consolidated High School in 1966. In high school he enjoyed being on the debate team and taking pictures for the yearbook. He graduated from Indiana State University in 1970. While attending college, he worked and lived at a funeral home to pay for his expenses. He was a member of Alpha Phi Omega.

After college, he moved to Indianapolis and began teaching industrial arts. He met his wife, Judi, while they were both teaching at Shortridge Middle School. He taught in Germany for a year before they were married. Shortly after getting married, Jim decided to leave teaching and pursue his dream of owning a screen-printing business.

He and Judi had two children, Jennifer and Jonathan. Jim also had a dream of being a pilot and studied endlessly for his pilot's exam. He was a proud member of the Post-Air Airport Flight Club and owned a Cessna. Jim was an avid golfer and enjoyed hunting.

Jim was charismatic and people naturally gravitated towards him. He was intelligent and creative, he enjoyed seeing his ideas come to life. He was a friend to many and had a zest for life. Jim loved his wife and children.

He is survived by his daughter, Jennifer Hynek; and son, Jonathan (Traci) Gibson.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Judi; father, John Gibson; mother, Marie Gibson; and brother, John Gibson.

A celebration of life will be planned with details to follow.
