James Arthur Huiett

October 16, 1942 — May 13, 2024

McCordsville, IN

James Arthur Huiett, 81, passed away peacefully on May 13, 2024, in Greenfield, IN. The family is grateful for the wonderful care that Greenfield Healthcare provided.  James was born on October 16, 1942, to Glenn Huiett and Alice Faye (Martin) Huiett in McAllen, Texas. After completing his education, he later met and married his wife Jeanne (Garing) Huiett on December 9, 1963. Together they spent over 59 1/2 years by each other’s sides, and loved watching their grandchildren grow.

James will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend to many. He never met a stranger and loved helping people in his church.  James loved gardening, working outside and tinkering in his barn. You could hear his sounds of joy with his constant whistling. He also was an avid racing fan, starting from when he would drag race in his childhood.   He enjoyed a variety of motor sports from stock cars to the Indy 500 and everything in between. James was also known for his love of animals, especially his cat “Pickles” as well as his grandkids dogs, “Cash”, “June”, “Reggie” and “Marvin”, and often would welcome any animal in need of a home into his. His greatest joy in life, however, was the time he spent with his family, who will all miss him very much.

James is survived by his wife, Jeanne Huiett; daughter, Cindy (David) White; two grandchildren, Corey White and Haley White; nephew, Ron (Brandye) Hendrickson; niece, Diane (Robert) Hendrickson-Hunt; sister-in-law, Sharon Garing; as well as many other nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Glenn Huiett and Alice Faye Huiett; sister-in-law, Judy Boyle; and his brothers-in-law, Art Boyle, Pete Garing, Terry Garing, and Rex Garing.
