James L Compton

James Lynn Compton, born May 18, 1968, passed away on September 14, 2026.

James was born to Maggie McFarland and Odell Compton and was one of three sons. His two brothers preceded him in death after their battles with cancer.

James lived with significant disabilities for much of his adult life. Despite the challenges that followed, James went on to live many more years and most recently resided at Bethany Village in Indianapolis.

He was preceded in death by his father, Odell Compton, and his two brothers.

James is survived by his mother, Maggie McFarland, and those who knew and cared for him throughout his life.

James’s life was shaped by circumstances few people are ever asked to endure, and his story is one of perseverance through many years of hardship and change. He will be remembered by those whose lives crossed his path and by those who carry his memory forward.

Visitation will be from 11 AM - 1 PM on Friday, October 2, 2026 at Indiana Funeral Care Central, 925 E Hanna Ave, Indpls, IN 46227.  Funeral services will start at 1 PM, with burial to follow at Concordia Cemetery.
