Jacqueline Rebecca Woodson Nichols of Salem, VA passed away on October 13, 2024.
Jackie was predeceased by her mother Thelma Woodson and brother-in-law Jerry Vess; two people she held close in her heart.
Left to cherish Jackie's memory are her son Tommy Nichols and wife Stacy, her daughter Megan Pimentel and husband Ryan, sister and best friend Beverly Vess, and her grandchildren Payton, Carson, Cade, and Luxon. Other very special family members are Clint Vess (wife Dana), Hunter Vess, and Dylan Vess. And close friends Samantha and Matt Lovern, and Brett Kennedy.
She took so much pride in raising her family. She was active in all her kids' activities. To say she was just proud is an understatement, as she would even tell a stranger about her kids and family. You could never leave her without her saying "I love you MORE". Through her years she made friendships that meant a lot to her. She shared stories and experiences that will last forever. She loved to read, listen to music, drink coffee, garden, watch movies, and visit the Outer Banks. Virginia was her home, and the Blue Ridge mountains will always remind us of "our Momma". Jackie retired from the VA Medical center where she served many roles. She loved supporting Veterans and advocating for all. There she met two very special lifelong friends, Cindy Webb, and Genova Burrell.
Her memory will guide us every day and we will cherish her love forever.
Native American Prayer
I give you this one thought to keep,
I am with you still - I do not sleep. I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond glints on the snow,
I am the sunlight on the ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn rain. When you awaken in the morning's hush,
I am the swift, uplifting rush of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not think of me as gone –
I am with you still - in each new dawn.
In lieu of flowers-trees, the family suggests making a donation to a charity that supports Literacy in her honor, as Jackie loved reading (ex. Little Free Library). And as Jackie would have requested, spend time with one's family, as she loved being with her family; laughing, cooking, eating, watching a movie, and telling stories
