Listen to Obituary

Iole Di Bortolo, a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on March 3rd, leaving behind a legacy of devotion to family, strength, and love.

Iole was born in 1931 in Cavasso Nuovo, Italy, to her parents Irma and Giovanni Lovisa. She spent her early years in the beautiful Friuli region, where she developed the strong family values and resilience that would guide her throughout her life.

As a young woman, Iole married the love of her life, Olinto Di Bortolo. Together they shared a marriage that lasted more than 60 years. Eventually, they made their home in Indianapolis, where they built a life centered on family, hard work, and community.

Iole was a devoted wife and a proud mother who raised three children. She is survived by her children: Linda Swanson ( Dave), Frank Di Bortolo (his fiancée, Sabrina), and Mary Ann Cohen ( Steve). She was a loving grandmother to Andrea Di Bortolo Lesser (Collin) and Alexander Cohen, and a proud great-grandmother to Aiden Olinto and Lincoln Todd Cohen.

Family was the heart of Iole’s life. She found her greatest joy in caring for those she loved and bringing everyone together around the table. She will always be remembered for her deep faith, which guided her throughout her life, and for her fabulous cooking that filled her home with warmth, tradition, and unforgettable meals.

From her beginnings in Cavasso Nuovo to the life she built in Indianapolis, Iole’s legacy is one of love, devotion, and family. Her strength, kindness, and unwavering faith touched everyone who knew her.

She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

Her love will always remain in our hearts.

Il suo amore sarà sempre nei nostri cuori.
