Howard Hefley Jr.

Doug was a devoted husband to his beloved late wife, Loretta Hefley, and a loving father to their five children: Gary Lohkamp (Pam), Peggy Hefley, Doug Hefley (Vanessa), Karen Turner (Larry), and Steve Hefley.

Doug was preceded in death by his parents Eathel Mae (Poe) Edwards and Howard Douglas Hefley Sr., son Gary, grandson Mark, great-grandson Mark II. He is survived by his 15 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Additionally, he is survived by his cherished brothers, Allen Snively (Judy) and Gary Mueller (Louise).

A dedicated machinist at heart, Doug owned several successful tool and die companies throughout his career. He not only excelled in his profession but also provided employment opportunities for many of his children's friends, leaving a lasting impact on his community.

Doug's passion for sports was evident in his involvement with the establishment of the "Mini-Trojans" bantam league, a testament to his commitment to nurturing young athletes and providing them with opportunities for growth.

Beyond his professional and community endeavors, Doug was a man of many interests. He enjoyed dancing with Indy Dancers, had a profound love for aviation, spending countless hours piloting his planes, an AV tail Bonanza, and a 185 Cessna. He also found solace in fishing and cherished moments spent by the water with his loyal companion, his dog Lulu.

Howard will be remembered for his unwavering dedication to his family, his community, and his adventurous spirit. His legacy of love, generosity, and perseverance will forever live on in the hearts of his loved ones and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Visitation is Friday, May 3, 2024, 11:00 am until 1:00 pm at Indiana Funeral Care, Greenwood Chapel.

Funeral service will begin at 1:00 pm.

Burial to immediately follow at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens, Greenwood, Indiana.
