Helena Mae Evans

Helena Mae Evans, née Hall, was born on April 21, 1941, in Bangor, Kentucky, and peacefully passed away on June 6, 2026, in Indianapolis, Indiana. She was a beloved member of her community, deeply cherished by family, friends, and all who knew her.

Helena devoted 55 years of her life to the Mount Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, where she not only found spiritual solace but also enriched the congregation through her musical talents, notably playing the piano for many years. Her commitment extended beyond worship, as she actively participated in the Pleasant View Heritage Association, assuring the community of Pleasant View was lit up with streetlights for many years.

Family was at the heart of Helena’s life. She married Richard Lee Evans on July 24,1965 and together they raised two sons, Darren (Caralee) Evans and Thomas (Trista) Evans, who were blessed to have a mother whose love and guidance shaped their lives. Helena found immense joy and pride in her grandchildren—Powers (Kollene) Evans, Levi Evans, Jayden Evans, Claire Evans, Matthias Evans—and delighted especially in the presence of her great-grandson, Gideon Evans. She was known for cherishing time spent with them, creating memories and traditions that will be treasured for generations to come.

Helena’s family circle also included her sister Dee Anna (Bobby) Blevins, her nephew Robbie (Cindy) Blevins, and her sister-in-law Charlotte Hall. She was surrounded and supported by many extended family members, a loving church family, friends, and neighbors—all fortunate to have experienced her warmth, kindness, and steadfast spirit.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Troy and Eura (Lawson) Hall as well as by her brothers, Glenn Hall and Jesse Hall.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, June 11, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Mount Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, located at 7925 Huff St, Indianapolis, IN 46259. The funeral service will follow at 12:00 p.m. at the same location, with burial commencing at 1:30 p.m. at Pleasant View Cemetery, 10053 N. 850 W, Fairland, IN 46126.

Helena’s life was marked by unwavering faith and deep familial love. Her legacy endures in the hearts she touched and the family she cherished. She found her greatest joy in worshiping Jesus and bringing her loved ones together.
