Helen Jane Meranda, lovingly known as Jane, passed away peacefully at the age of 78 on September 8, 2024, surrounded by family at her son's home in Sheridan, Indiana. Born on July 22, 1946, she was the cherished daughter of Jack and Betty Lockridge.
In 1968, Jane married her childhood sweetheart, Richard Meranda, and together they built a life together filled with love, laughter, and countless memories. Jane was the heart and soul of her family, a devoted wife, a nurturing mother to her two sons, and a beloved GiGi to her six grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
Jane's passion for learning led her to graduate from Indiana University, after which she embarked on a fulfilling career as a Latin teacher. Later, she found joy in the world of insurance. Beyond her professional life, Jane had a flair for collecting antiques and holiday decorations, and she delighted in capturing life's moments through pictures.
Her granddaughter, Katie, affectionately named her GiGi, a name that became synonymous with love and warmth in the family. Jane was the glue that held everything together, orchestrating birthdays, weddings, and holidays with unparalleled enthusiasm. She had a knack for inventing games that created lasting bonds and cherished memories among her loved ones.
Jane's legacy lives on through the love and kindness she generously shared with all who knew her. Her spirit of togetherness and unwavering support will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
She is survived by her two sons, Russell (Lissy) Meranda and Spencer Meranda; sister, Linda Ealy; and grandchildren, Katherine (Matthew) Pera, Ryan (Valerie), Caden, Isla, and Drake Meranda along with their respective families.
Jane is now reunited with her dear parents, Jack and Betty Lockridge; husband, Richard Meranda; and her precious granddaughter, Rachel Meranda, who preceded her in death.
A celebration of Jane's life will be held to honor her memory, with invitation to follow. Her family takes comfort in knowing that her love will continue to shine brightly in their hearts forever.
