Harold (Bud) P. Scott, 96, of Lafayette, passed away surrounded by family on Saturday, September 6, 2025, at IU Hospital in Lafayette, IN.
Bud was born on August 18, 1929, in Plymouth, IN, to the late Harold and Dorothy (Sheets) Scott and was a graduate of Lincoln High School. Upon graduation, Bud enlisted in the US Navy, and served aboard LST 542 until his discharge in 1952. He married Patricia (Pat) Denyes in June of 1952. The family moved to Lafayette where he was employed by Farm Bureau Insurance of Indiana for 25 years. After retiring from Farm Bureau, Bud and Pat moved to Wilmington, NC where he opened several small businesses and also operated a private contracting company. He was a member of the Masonic lodge and American Legion. Returning to Lafayette with Pat in 1998, he was able to spend his full retirement surrounded by family and many close friends, who were like family to him.
Bud is survived by his four children, Jerry (Elaine) Scott of Lafayette, Debra (Jim) Garvin of Geneseo, IL, Tom (Elizabeth) Scott of Charleston, SC, and Deanna (Keith) Coopman of Lafayette, along with his grandchildren, great-grandchildren and a great-great-granddaughter. He is also survived by his sister, Sandra Geist of Plymouth and brother, Tom (Pam) Scott of Westfield, IN.
No services are scheduled at this time. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers or charitable donations we ask that you help someone in need, by helping with a bill, or lending a friendly ear to a person in need of some assistance.
