Harold ‘Hal’ Rees, of Indianapolis, passed away Nov. 15, 2024. He was born Dec. 4, 1937, in Lafayette, to the late Harold Andrew and Ruth Vera (Brookshîre) Rees.
Hal graduated in 1956 from Brownstown High School as valedictorian of his class. He was in the ROTC program and graduated from Purdue University in 1960 with a B.S. in Electrical Engineering. He served in the U.S. Army and was a Vietnam Veteran.
Hal worked for Indiana Bell/AT&T for 31 years and the State of Indiana Office of Utility Consumer Counselor for 24 years. He was a member of Southport Heights Christian Church since 1964, where he served on various committees, including being an elder to the Deaf Church. In 1979 he became a Forwarding Agent to Bana Uriah, missionary in N.E. India, and traveled there in 1995 to visit.
Hal is survived by the love of his life, Dorothy Lou Cross, whom he married on May 31, 1959. They were married for 65 years and have 3 children: Kimberly (Mark) Prescott, Brad (Laura) Rees, and Kristy (Chris) Buckwalter; 8 grandchildren: Amber (deceased), Shelby (Brock), Summer, Landon, Jayden, Jaylynn, Nicole, and Hannah; and 13 great grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to Southport Heights Christian Church, Indianapolis, Indiana.
