Gundars Grislitis, 93, of Indianapolis, Indiana passed away on Thursday, July 24, 2025. Gundars was born to Peteris and Berta Grislitis on May 20, 1932 in Priekule, Latvia.
He graduated from Butler University with degrees in Journalism, Sociology, Philosophy and Psychology. Gundars married his one true love and companion, Valda, and had a lovely daughter together. Gundars had a deep passion for journalism and would often write for the Latvian Newspaper, Latvja Amerika, which is published in Toronto, Canada. Gundars was also a natural poat who never sent a card that didn't have a handwritten personalized poem that he had composed. He even had an entire book of his Latvian poems published in the 1970's entitled, Varaviksles Loka. In addition to his love of witting, he had a great passion for watching and participating in track and field events. Gundars and his wife, Valda, were accomplished track and field athletes who both won multitudes of trophies over the years. He also liked animals and often had a beloved cat in the family.
Gundars is preceded in death by his wife; Valda, parents; Peteris, and Berta. He is survived by his daughter; Biruta.
