Gloria S. Wheeler

Gloria Maria (Strasburger) Wheeler, 88, of Indianapolis, Indiana, passed away peacefully on August 22, 2026.

Born on January 13, 1938, in Greensburg, Indiana, she was the only child of Gerald J. and Kathryn Strasburger. Gloria graduated from Greensburg High School in 1956 and earned her Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology from Butler University in 1960. After graduation, she worked as a medical laboratory technologist in Indianapolis.

Gloria married Walter Wheeler in 1964 and, over the course of their 62 years together, dedicated her life to her family, always leading with a smile and her faith. She was a devoted Catholic and member of St. Lawrence Parish in Indianapolis, as well as a supporter of several charities throughout her life, including St. Vincent de Paul-Indianapolis, where she volunteered for many years.

Gloria is survived by her husband, Walt; her children, Sean Wheeler (Dawn), Mary Ellen Wheeler (Jason Bunch), and Seamus Wheeler (Lori); and her grandchildren, Owen, Maura, Liam, Toby, and Sidney.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, September 26, 2026, from 9:30 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, 4650 Shadeland Ave., Indianapolis, IN 46226. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow, beginning at 11:00 A.M. at St. Lawrence. A private family graveside ceremony will take place at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Greensburg, Indiana.
