Celebration of Life
August 25, 1941 – December 29, 2025
Gloria Faye Westmoreland lived a life full of color, adventure, curiosity, and compassion. Born on August 25, 1941, Gloria was the eldest granddaughter of Walter Miller and Orinda Pettiford Miller and the oldest of six children born to Charles and Miriam Dotson. From an early age, she embraced her role as a leader, mentor, trailblazer, and nurturer—qualities that defined her throughout her remarkable and impactful life.
Gloria was truly eclectic, with an unquenchable love for learning and trying new things. She wore many hats over the years and wore them well. Her professional journey included running the office for the Postal Service, selling real estate, caring for mental health patients in a group home and working in life insurance and so much more. She was never one to shy away from something different, she also found joy in retail—selling encyclopedias, underwear, and makeup—always connecting with people and leaving a lasting impression. Whatever she pursued, Gloria did it with confidence, excellence, and unmistakable flair often rounding up her family and friends to support her cause.
She was a true lifelong learner and people-lover, Gloria poured herself into every space she occupied. She had a special passion for bowling and was an active member of Duo club and several bowling and social clubs, where her competitive spirit and sense of community shined. She loved going to the casino every chance she got and playing Keno. More than the games themselves, she cherished the relationships—always encouraging, uplifting, and investing in others wherever she went. She always said she has Goddaughters all over the world.
Gloria had a gift for making people feel seen and valued. She pushed people to reach heights they would have never tried without her encompassing fire, support, and love. She was passionate about her family and the unity that she fostered with her life being a shining example. She never met a stranger, and if she did, they didn’t remain one for long. Her generosity of spirit, wisdom, and willingness to pour into anyone she encountered left an indelible mark on countless lives.
Gloria Faye Westmoreland was preceded in death by her Common law life partner John Harris, her beloved Parents, her son Charles Westmoreland, her siblings Beverly Dotson, Angela Dotson Knox, and Timothy Dotson, her nephew Christopher Dotson and a host of extended family. She leaves to cherish her memory her brothers Wayne (Julie) Dotson and Reggie(Vienna) Dotson, her youngest son, Wendell Westmoreland; her cherished grandchildren Cory (Andrea)Cummings , Tamika Brown, Dayja (Desmond) Westmoreland Turkson , Jordan (Aisha ) Westmoreland, Javiyon Westmoreland, and Shaniya Westmoreland; along with a host of great-grandchildren, extended family, dear friends, and all those whose lives she touched through love, mentorship, and friendship.
“I have fought the good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith.
Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.”
— 2 Timothy 4:7–8
Gloria will be remembered as a woman of strength, curiosity, laughter, and love—a woman who lived fully, gave freely, and finished her race with faith. Though she has transitioned from this life, her legacy continues to shine in every heart she touched.
Heavenly Father, We thank You for the beautiful life of Gloria Faye Westmoreland. Thank You for the love she shared, the wisdom she imparted, and the joy she brought into every room she entered.
