Glenn Lamont Foster

July 14, 1955 — December 29, 2024

Indianapolis

Glenn has always maintained a belief that he did not look his age! No doubt his mother Gwendolyn Enid Bacote Foster (deceased), and father, Henry Edward Foster (deceased), chuckled at this assertion. They of course, remembered fondly his July 14th, 1955 birth at Griffin Hospital in Derby, Connecticut, as a day of warmth much like Glenn’s smile and ready laughter. Even as a baby Glenn exhibited a love of people and did not know a stranger.

Glenn’s family relocated to New Haven, Connecticut, where he matriculated at area public schools, namely Winchester Elementary and Sheridan Junior High Schools. Glenn’s secondary education included a much storied adventure at Pioneer Valley Academy (PVA) New Braintree, Massachusetts. Glenn returned to New Haven where he continue his high school basketball ‘career’ at James Hillhouse and Cross schools. Determined to make a name for himself in the annals of high school basketball history, Glenn also attended and graduated from Foran High School Milford, Connecticut. There, Glenn received letterman status as an accomplished basketball player and multi-sport athlete, where, in a much anticipated game, he scored the game-winning shot thus netting him a picture and story in the local newspaper.

Glenn graduated with an Associates degree from South Central Community College (aka Gateway) and most notably pursued a degree in Religion as a student of theology at Oakwood University (formerly, Oakwood College). While at Oakwood, Glenn fell in love with the extraordinary, talkative and talented, Lisa Irene Footman, before the 1986 school year ended. Eventually, Glenn and Lisa became one, at Mt. Zion SDA Church in Hamden, Connecticut, on August 15, 1992, 32 years 4 months and 14 days prior to his demise.

Glenn became a father to the lovely, intelligent, and beautiful, Bethany Janae in January of 2000. Being a girl dad, it pained him to see his daughter in tears. However, despite the tears his favorite way to sooth and spoil her, most often seemed to be an impromptu trip to Dollar Tree and a boisterous game of hide-and-seek.

Glenn served in several departments at Mt. Zion SDA church Hamden, Connecticut as a faithful baptized member and ordained elder until 2001. Mt. Zion SDA Church is where Glenn began engagement in field evangelism, preaching, Bible work, family and youth ministries, all of which prepared him for his future endeavors at churches in Florida, Maryland, California, Oklahoma, Louisiana and finally Indiana.

Glenn worked for New Haven Public Schools as a substitute teacher. During the summers, he utilized his love of basketball as a coach, mentor and councilor for the National Youth Sports Program, YMCA and Ansonia Summer Camp from 1990-1993. Glenn worked for HID security systems 1993-2001, before moving to Florida where Glenn found his niche working as a licensed security officer and lately Indianapolis where he worked as a security officer with Andy Frain Security.

Glenn cultivated a love of reading, thus collecting books whose subject matter centered around biblical prophecy, end-time events, righteousness by faith, evangelism and spiritual gifts. His most prized books were the red books authored by Ellen G. White.

As in recent months, today, if he could, Glenn would offer words of love and encouragement to his wife Lisa Irene, their daughter Bethany Janae, his brother Seth, sister-in-law Lisa Grace, their children Jayden and Alesa, his sister Linda Anderson’s (deceased) children, Lisa Betts, Oscar Anderson, Paul and Nicole Anderson, his godson Dr. Sidney Freeman Jr., his extended family, in-laws, cousins, many friends and guests, imploring all of us to know Jesus, and prepare for His soon return. Glenn died with the hope of being raised in the first resurrection and being reunited with all of you, for eternity.
