June was born in 1937 in Balkan, Kentucky. She was a cheerleader and graduate of Black Star High School. After graduating high school June worked as a switchboard operator with Bell County Phone Company and was one of the first women in her community down in the holler to drive, she helped take care of many family members and friends.
From early childhood through raising her own family, until the end of her life, family was by far the most important to her.
She had many passions in life, but none greater than the love for her children. Prior to having kids, she was an excellent bowler and card player. After becoming a mother, she dedicated her life to her kids and supported their many endeavors. This included decades of supporting their youth sports all the way through college, then regularly attending the grandkids events. June spent many years in the crowd and has more sports knowledge than most men and coaches, she could always be heard cheering in the stands. Another one of June’s talents was cooking, and her specialty fried chicken was legendary! For years, Sunday dinners were a tradition in the Ridner family. In her later years, June had also made a habit of feeding the neighborhood squirrels. No one would ever go hungry around Grandma June! June was also very proud of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her love for babies and her growing family was immeasurable. June enjoyed babysitting many of them during their first few years of life and instilling the core values and love they carry with them today.
June was the matriarch of the Ridner family and the epitome of unconditional love. She will be greatly missed for her honest words of wisdom and devotion to her family. We will all remember her for so much more and she will forever be in our hearts and minds for generations to come. Please come celebrate her life with the family.
