Georgia Ruth Ruemler, 92, of Indianapolis, Indiana, passed away peacefully on August 25, 2026.

Georgia was born in Lafayette, Indiana, to Inez and Auston Roark. She grew up on the family farm and attended school in Chalmers, Indiana. She completed an associates degree. In her younger years Georgia lived as far away as Anchorage, Alaska, and San Diego, California, but it didn’t take long to find her way back home to Indiana. Upon return she made her home in Muncie, Indiana where she worked for Ball State University as an Administrative Assistant in various departments until she retired. And although Georgia never lived on the farm again, her heart never left. The farm was ingrained in her every fiber. Even at 92 years old she knew if the crops were knee high by July 4th, if they had too much or too little rain and if a bumper crop could be expected. She kept up with the local fairs and 4H accomplishments of all her grandchildren, grandnieces, grandnephews, and now even her great-grands.

Her love for farm life spilled over into everything she did. She was a handy seamstress, glorious gardener, skilled quilter, and enjoyed all kinds of crafts. If she wasn’t crafting or gardening, you could find her watching sports. She was what you’d call a sports enthusiast with knowledge of all kinds of sports. However, basketball was her passion, and she rarely missed a game. Later in life she became an avid college football fan and cheered two of her favorite teams on to winning National Football Championships- Go Clemson and Go IU. She knew how to pick a winner.

Georgia was proceeded in death by her parents Inez and Auston Roark, sisters Doris Culver (Glen) and Irene Buxton (Ken), and daughter Teresa Marie Burke. She longed to be with them again and is surely rejoicing to be back in their presence.

Georgia is survived by her daughter Tami Green (Michael), Son-in-law Brent Burke. Grandchildren Lauren Layton (Cory), Brice Burke (Kendyl), Eric Burke (Elizabeth), and Brendon Burke (Keerthana), Hailey Green (Caleb), Shelby Klug (David), Kenley Hellman (Jonny), and 8 great-grand children and a ninth on the way.

Georgia brought laughter, deep love, and a steady warmth to everyone around her. Her life was defined by the joy she found in family, the loyalty she gave to lifelong friends, and a bright sense of humor. She leaves behind a legacy of cherished moments and open-hearted kindness that will live on in our hearts forever.
