George William Shine Jr.

George “Bill” Shine Jr., age 73, of Liberty, Indiana, departed this world on Monday, June 8th 2026. He was a cherished father, grandfather, veteran, and friend whose presence touched many lives and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Bill was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Kristina (Tina); his father, George Shine Sr.; his mothers, Vera (Foster) and Mildred (Golden); and his sisters, Marsha Booth, Darlene Moore, and Vera Shine.

He is survived by his brothers, Alan Oscher; Lewie Shine and wife, Jolynn; Ron Shine and wife, Deborah; and Frank Shine and wife, Denise. He also leaves behind his children: Stacy Pennington and spouse, David Pettigrew; Stephanie Shine and spouse, Tammy; George Shine III and spouse, Misti; and Racheal Shine and spouse, Chad Bement. He is also survived by his granddaughters, Kathryn Martin, Shauna Nuzum and Emmaranda Wade and spouse, CJ. 

Bill faced cancer with strength and determination. Though, like all of us, he had his imperfections, he was a loving and caring man who deeply loved his family. He was quick-witted, always ready with a “dad joke,” and never hesitated to help those he cared about, expecting nothing in return.

Bill proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. He found joy in spending time at the lake and being on the water, places where he felt most at peace.

May his memory be a blessing to all who knew him.

Visitation will be held at Indiana Funeral Care, located at 2433 E. Main Street, Greenwood, Indiana 46143 on Wednesday, June 17, 2026 from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm.

Funeral service will begin at 7:00 pm.

Graveside services will follow at Marion National Cemetery, located at 1700 E. 38th Street, Marion, Indiana 46953 on Thursday, June 18, 2026 at 11:00 am.
