George W. Eddy III

August 22, 1957 — June 19, 2022

George Willis Eddy III passed away at 2:27 a.m. on June 19, 2022, at St. Vincent Hospital in Kokomo, Indiana at the age of 64, where he was surrounded by family and friends. During his final hours he stated, “I love Jesus and Jesus loves me,” and “I’m happy. I’m so happy. I just want everyone else to be happy!” 

George was born on August 22, 1957, to Betty and the late George Eddy Jr. in Connersville, Indiana.

After graduating from Connersville High School in 1974, George joined the U.S. Navy where he served on the USS Midway (CVA-41) and was proudly a part of Operation Frequent Wind during the fall of Saigon in 1975. 


After his time in the Navy, he attended and graduated from Purdue University with a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering. He also attended Indiana University East and later in life Indiana University- Kokomo where he took courses in education. He enjoyed teaching math at Ivy Tech in Kokomo and substitute teaching in several school districts in Miami, Howard and Cass counties. He was once employed as the building commissioner for the Town of Bunker Hill, and he worked various other jobs in maintenance, security, and manufacturing.  

George had a passion for motorcycles and founded IVORME—Indiana Vintage Off- Road Motorcycle Enthusiasts.  He enjoyed both racing and organizing events in Indiana and southern Michigan. 
He enjoyed genealogy, astrology, machinery, and music, and aircraft. 
George attended St. John’s Lutheran Church in Peru, IN and he was a member of the American Legion. 

He is survived by his mother Betty Eddy of Connersville, sisters Niah Hicks and Monica Ross, brother Anthony (Tammy) Eddy of Orlando, FL; and a brother Mark (Tina) Eddy of Salt Lick, KY.  
Along with Kay Eddy he raised his stepchildren Shannon Atkinson (Richard Nussbaum) of Kokomo, Kelly (David) Morales of Archbald, PA; Anthony Atkinson of Bunker Hill, IN; Nick (Karlie) Atkinson of Peru, IN. Grand daughter Lauryn Atkinson, “Pappy’s Girl”, Kokomo, held a very special place in George’s heart that no one else could touch. Special friend Beth Ann Doulen- Miller has been by his side over the past few years. He will be remembered by many nieces and nephews, aunts, uncle and cousins and step-grand children.  He also spent many years with and loved Tina Huffman David, Tiffany Huffman Birnell, and Kevin Huffman. 

George is preceded in death by his father George W. Eddy Jr, brothers Brian Eddy, Bret Eddy and infant brother William Eddy. 

George will be interned at Rankin Cemetery in Miami County, IN where a graveside service will be held later. He will be joined there by the remains of his very best friend and companion, Jack the Pug.
