Jane Ottinger, 79, of Monticello, IN, passed away on September 8, 2025, at Grand Brook Memory Care.
Jane was born on December 7, 1945, in Boone County to the late Ivan and Violet (Asher) Fairfield. She married Jim Ottinger on November 2, 1962. They were married for 57 years. He preceded her in death on April 22, 2020.
Over the years, Jane worked at the Kroger Deli where she became skilled at making wedding cakes. She also worked as a clerk at Station 66. After her kids were grown, she missed attending their sporting events, so she became an official. She officiated softball for 12 years and volleyball for over 25 years.
Jane was a member of the United Methodist Church. She liked to travel and go to their home in Florida during the winter. She was an avid bowler for 44 years. She scored over 200 multiple times and attended bowling tournaments across the country. Jane was taught to sew by her mother at the age of 9. She belonged to a quilting guild, attended quilt camps, and taught others how to quilt. She made over 300 quilts and gave many of them to friends and family to enjoy and use.
She is survived by three children, Doug (Cindy) Ottinger of Carver, MN, Melody (Keith) Owsley of Lancaster, Kentucky, Candy (Scott) Bowsher of Rockville, IN; grandchildren, Courtney (Logan) Ketterer, Mitchell Ottinger, Zachary Owsley and Mason Bowsher, great grandchildren, Weston Ketterer and Josie Ketterer.
Visitation will be from 12:30 pm to 2:00 pm Monday, September 15, 2025, at Indiana Funeral Care, Indianapolis, IN. Burial will be at Lincoln Memory Gardens in Whitestown, IN.
