Gene Bruce Stambaugh Sr. passed away on June 26, 2026, in Indianapolis, Indiana, surrounded by loved ones. Born on September 28, 1954, also in Indianapolis, Gene was the cherished son of Bruce and Shirley (Detillier) Stambaugh. Throughout his life, Indianapolis remained a constant backdrop—witness to his journey as a devoted son, brother, husband, father, and grandfather.
Gene’s life was centered on family. His deep affection for his children, grandchildren, and even his beloved furry family members was a defining quality. Those who knew Gene remember him as a man whose greatest passion was the joy and pride he found in his loved ones. His warmth and dedication created a home where love and laughter flourished.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Kristan Stambaugh, whose partnership he treasured. Gene’s legacy lives on through his children: Gene Jr., Matthew, and Jarita, each carrying forward his values and his spirit. He is also mourned by his sister, Ruth, eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Gene is preceded in death by his parents, Bruce and Shirley; his brother, Russell; his sister, Margaret; and his daughter, Alisha. The memory of these loved ones, as well as Gene himself, is held close by all who remain.
Friends and family are invited to honor Gene’s life at a visitation on July 10, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Indiana Funeral Care - Greenwood Chapel, 2433 E. Main St., Greenwood, Indiana.
Gene Bruce Stambaugh Sr. leaves behind a loving family and a legacy defined by devotion and kindness. He will be missed dearly by all whose lives he touched.
