Gene Carroll Dobson

Gene Dobson of Danville, Indiana, passed away on March 9, 2026, at the age of 93. He was born on December 3, 1932, in Ripley County, Indiana. He graduated from Versailles High School, where he was a star basketball player.

Gene went on to join the Army, serving during the Korean conflict, and later attended Hanover College. He was a supervisor at American Electric Power Tanner’s Creek in Lawrenceburg, Indiana. He was a sports enthusiast who loved playing golf and watching IU basketball or the Cincinnati Reds baseball. Gene was a man of faith who attended Danville Christian Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Carmel (Jarvis) Dobson, and his granddaughter, Alyssa Housz. Gene is survived by his wife, Mary Dobson; son, Mark Dobson; daughter, Dawn Dobson; son, Michael Dobson; and stepdaughter, Anne (Gary) Vanderlaan, along with several beloved grand and great-grandchildren. 

Family and friends are welcome to gather on Sunday, March 15, 2026, at 4:00 p.m. at Danville Christian Church, where Reverend Venessa Harmel will officiate a Memorial Service.
