Garland Eugene Northington

Garland Eugene Northington, 77, passed away on December 13, 2025, in Indianapolis, Indiana. Born in Evansville, Indiana, Garland lived a life marked by love, laughter, service, and an unmistakable sense of style.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James Northington and Ruth Mae (Layne) Northington, and his sister, Rose Mary Northington.

Garland’s greatest joy was his family. He is lovingly survived by his wife of 56 years, Charlene (Baxton) Northington; his sister, Lillian Tandy; his daughter, Tiffany (Jason) McBride; and his son, Wesley (Renee) Northington. He was a devoted grandfather to four grandsons, Jason Jr., James, Nasir, and Wesley Jr., and three granddaughters, I’Marianna, I’Liyah, and Jaryn, each of whom held a special place in his heart. He also leaves behind three cherished great-grandchildren, Zakkai, Nova, and Zaylin, who brought him immeasurable pride and joy. In addition, Garland is remembered by a host of nieces, nephews, and honorary children lovingly adopted into the family over the years.

A proud graduate of Bosse High School in Evansville, Garland served his country honorably as a Vietnam War veteran. Following his military service, he dedicated 25 years to PPG, where he built a career defined by commitment and reliability, retiring after years of faithful service.

Garland had a deep passion for music, dancing, fashion, and having a good time. He was known for stepping out sharply dressed, moving effortlessly to the music, and filling every room with energy and joy. Nothing delighted him more than celebrating life and doting on his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who were the rhythm of his heart.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at Solid Word Bible Church, Indianapolis, Indiana, on Friday, January 2, 2026. Visitation: 12:00 p.m. – 1:00 p.m. Service: 1:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m.

Garland Eugene Northington lived boldly, loved deeply, and left a legacy that will continue to dance on through the lives of all who knew and loved him. 🌿
