Fredonna J. Logsdon

May 28, 1927 — May 30, 2021

Fredonna J. Logsdon was born on May 28, 1927 into a family that loved and cherished her with all their hearts. She married her husband, Jim, in 1946 and stayed by his side loving, laughing and caring for him until his death in 1999. Their children, John (Sara) and Larry (Chris) Logsdon and Linda (Doug) Ferguson rejoice in the family they became. She was delighted to be a grandmother to six and a great-grandmother to nine.

Fredonna loved the Lord her God with all her heart, mind, soul and strength. She was a member of Allisonville Christian Church where she served as an elder, a Sunday School teacher and part of the Christian Women’s Fellowship. Her special gift to the members was her regular mailing of cards during illnesses and times of joy. She loved people and served them by being a great neighbor who listened, helped and shared great joys. Many have shared how much her loving kindness meant to them. She also served through organizations such as VISTA tutoring at Greenbrier Elementary and Wheeler Mission.

While Fredonna worked outside the home for many years she considered herself first and foremost a mom. She worked at Lilly’s before she had children. She then worked parttime at Walker Research before moving to fulltime work at Alpha Chi Omega and afterward worked at Blue Cross/Blue Shield from which she retired. Then she returned to her first love of caring for children and became a nanny serving three different families until illness forced her final retirement.

Fredonna was lovingly cared for during her final five years at American Village and Waters Edge Nursing Home. Her love of people continued throughout and she touched many with her kind voice and gentle way.

She died on May 30, 2021. A family centered funeral service was held at Indiana Funeral Care in Indianapolis. She was buried next to Jim at Crown Hill Cemetery.
