Listen to Obituary

Fred (Butch) Wilber Walker Jr. was born December 29, 1951 in Indianapolis, Indiana to Fred Wilbur Walker Sr and Barbara Janet Lawson, the first of 8 children born to them. He courageously fought his battle with cancer for the last 2 years but sadly passed away March 10, 2026.

Growing up his family didn’t have a lot of money so he quit school at an early age to start working. He had many different jobs over the years including hanging and finishing drywall, painting, maintenance, delivery driver, and a semi truck driver, but his most favorite job and hobby was to play music. He was great at playing the guitar and the harmonica. Over the years he has played music at just about every bar in Indianapolis, he played at VFWs, parks, his son Ron’s wedding, his niece Stephanie’s anniversary party, birthday parties, on the camp ground and any family get together that was had. He always had a guitar pick in his pocket no matter what he was doing. He has played in different bands over the years including The Nashville Trend which cut a record with the song That’s How I Got To Memphis, and The Original Just Plain Country Band. He could listen to a song and after a couple times of listening he could play it like he had played it his whole life.

Butch was not always the easiest man to get along with, he was set in his ways and did not like to let his vulnerabilities, fears and regrets be seen. He kept most of his true feelings to himself.

Butch lived in many different states including Florida, Texas, Kentucky and Maine. He met his wife Lynne at the Fair in Maine around 1990 and they were married July 23, 1993 in Kenton, Kentucky.

Butch is survived by his loving wife Lynne (Pavelchak) Walker, his children Sherry Walker, Chris Walker, Peggy (Walker) Ruebush, Misty Walker, Ron and his wife Star Morrill, and Heidi (Morrill) and her husband Matt Krug.
