Frank Douglas Macchia, 85, passed away January 3, 2023.

Frank was born in the San Fernando Valley in California to Sam and Mildred Macchia on October 14, 1937.

Frank attended Catholic schools until his senior year in High School. He graduated from San Fernando High School. After his father’s death, when Frank was 21 years old, he and his mother lived in Hawaii, where he briefly attended the University of Hawaii in Manoa. He then travelled to New York and made his way back to California where he met and married Yvonne Hoehne in 1968. They had one daughter, Arianne, in 1972.

Frank was in the restaurant business most of his life. In California he owned one DerWeinerschnitzel and decided to trade the one for four in Oklahoma. He, Yvonne, and Arianne moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma in 1973. Over the years he owned several restaurants including the local favorite My Papa’s Deli in downtown Tulsa in the late 1970’s. Later he managed several restaurants in Tulsa until he left the restaurant business in the early 1990’s.

Frank and Yvonne divorced in 1993. He loved to travel and over the next 30 years lived in several states including Washington, North Dakota, Maryland, Virginia, Pennsylvania, and finally Indiana where he lived the remainder of his life. During that time he married 3 more times.

Frank grew up in a large Italian family. He was proud of his Italian heritage. He was a larger than life teddy bear of a man. He lived and loved big. He loved to entertain and was always the life of the party. He was also kind, giving and encouraged others to strive to life their best life.

Frank was preceded in death by both of his parents. He is survived by his daughter Arianne Leisher and son-in-law Scott of Enid, Ok, grandsons Talon Dryer of Tulsa, Ok, and Daniel Leisher of Enid, Ok. He is also survived by one great-granddaughter, Yvonne “Yvie” Dryer.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made directly to Indiana Funeral Care, Greenwood Chapel to help with final expenses.
