Eric James Strolberg

Eric James Strolberg (53), of Indianapolis, passed away on May 27, 2023 after fighting cancer since his diagnosis in 2019.

Eric was born on February 19, 1970 to parents James and Linda Strolberg in Rockford, IL. After he graduated from Hononegah High School in 1988, he went on to graduate from IUPUI for his undergraduate and Ball State for his graduate degree.

Eric’s love of science, Legos, soccer and all things space made him an amazing 5th grade teacher at Holy Cross Lutheran School. His passion and love of his students were a driving force in his life.

The greatest love of his life was his family. He met Kari (Upward) Strolberg in grade school and they have been together since sophomore year in high school. Together they have two children, Trevor and Sydney. And being their dad was Eric’s most important role in life.

Eric is survived by his wife, Kari, children, Trevor and Sydney, parents, James and Linda Strolberg, brother and his family, Jeremy, Brandy and Mason Strolberg, his in-laws Jerry and Leanne Upward, sister-in-law and her family, Julie, Ted, Liliana and Annabel Feeny and his Indianapolis Melrose Family.

A time of visitation will be held at Christ the Savior Lutheran Church, 10500 East 126th St. Fishers, IN on Sunday, June 11th from 2-4 pm, followed by a Memorial Service at 4 pm. The service is expected to be live-streamed at christthesavior.org/watchlive. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations made to Holy Cross Lutheran School, a place close to Eric’s heart. Please use their website (hclcindy.org/give/) or mail a check and put Eric’s name in the memo line for donations to be used for STEM related items in memory of Eric.
