Emery Arley Jones, 76, of Indianapolis, Indiana, passed away on June 7, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family.

Born on March 18, 1950, Emery lived a life marked by kindness, laughter, and devotion to those he loved. On February 23, 1975, he married the love of his life, Susan Jones, at Luther Church. Together they built a beautiful life and shared more than five decades of marriage, including 32 years in their Indianapolis home.

Emery had a passion for cars, whether they needed a tune-up or simply a good wash. He found great joy in working with his hands and took pride in caring for the things he loved. More than anything, Emery cherished spending time with his wife, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing and treasured the memories made outdoors with family and friends.

Those who knew Emery will remember him as one of the sweetest people they ever met. He was funny, generous, and always willing to lend a helping hand whenever he could. His warm spirit, sense of humor, and caring heart touched the lives of many.

Emery is survived by his beloved wife, Susan Jones; his son, Matt Atkins; his grandchildren, Cheyanne Cook, Brandon Jones, and Kirra Jones; and his great-grandchildren, Zahari Ligon, Aubrey Cook, Moses Jones, Isaiah Jones, and Nalani Solis.

He was preceded in death by his children, Tabitha Jones and Emery Jones II.

Though he is no longer with us, Emery’s love, laughter, and gentle nature will remain in the hearts of all who knew him.

“Perhaps they are not stars in the sky, but rather openings where our loved ones shine down to let us know they are happy.”

Emery will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever held in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
