Edythe (Eadie) M. Barrie, 80 of Indianapolis, Indiana went to be with the Lord on August 14, 2023. Eadie was born on September 5, 1942 to Louis S. and Theresa Guarino who precede her in death. She is also preceded in death by her late husband James W. Barrie of Lawrenceville, IL as well as her two loving sons, Joseph R. Mannella Jr. (Lulu), and Michael J. Mannella.

Eadie was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, Nana and friend. She loved her family with her whole heart. She was our anchor. Eadie loved to cook for family and friends and was the ultimate hostess. She put love and kindness into everything she did. She was a great gardener and loved to “play in the dirt”. She loved to read and was involved in a creative writing class for years where she wrote beautiful stories. Eadie was a fabulous dancer and loved music and dance. She took line dancing classes and even danced annually at the Indiana State Fair.

Eadie loved the Lord and was a member of Traders Point Christian Church where she was also involved in a weekly bible study. She loved sports, especially the Indianapolis Colts and Butler Bulldogs basketball. Eadie was always learning new things and seeking knowledge. After her youngest went off to college, Eadie attended Butler University and graduated with honors.

Eadie loved to play games and do puzzles. She met with her friends regularly to play Mexican Train or Scrabble. She was a fierce competitor.

After being a stay-at-home mom, Eadie went to work for Carnation company for many years. She also worked at Butler University as well as the Indiana Historical Society where she was a Development Officer until she retired.

Eadie leaves a legacy of love behind. She was a bright light and the kindest, most loving woman to all that she met. She is survived by her two daughters, Tammy (Terese Ann) Taylor and Jeanne M. Mannella of Indianapolis. Grandchildren Joseph A. Mannella and Ashley Stevens of Orlando, FL, Marissa Taylor of Spokane, WA and Rachael Taylor of Indianapolis. Siblings Lois Hazel (Dale), Carole Detweiler (John), Louis S. Guarino Jr. (Dawn) and many nieces and nephews. Step children Jeffrey Barrie (Mary), Jan Edwards and Jill Hamilton (Sam) as well as their families.

A celebration of life will be held at Liter House Banquet Hall on Sunday, September 24, 2023 from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to M.A.D.D or the American Lung Association. She will be laid to rest with her parents in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Philadelphia, PA at a later date.
