Edward “Eddie” Lewis, age 52 of Indianapolis left this world on June 29th 2025. Eddie was born March 24th, 1973, at the Offutt Air Force base in Nebraska to Ed Lewis & Debbie Birtcil Young.
While our world feels quieter without him, we take comfort knowing that his life was anything but silent. Eddie was a true force – a vibrant, generous, & unforgettable presence who left a lasting impression on anyone who had the privilege to know him.
Eddie was the kind of man who gave without hesitation. Whether it was his time, his wisdom & guidance, or the shirt off of his own back, he was always there when you needed him – no questions asked. He never thought twice about putting others before himself. His selflessness wasn’t performative; it was simply who he was.
He brought life to every room he entered, with a wild sense of humor, making you laugh until you cried. His stories somehow got not only crazier, but more hilarious each time he told them. You could call him crazy – but in the most beautiful, unforgettable, good kind of way.
He lived big, loved deeply, & left nothing on the table. He was the kind of person who reminded us that life is meant to be lived fully, with joy, mischief, and a whole lot of heart.
Eddie didn’t just come into our lives – he changed them. He showed us true unconditional love, taught us how to find joy in the chaos, & reminded us that it’s okay to be a little wild as long as your heart is in the right place. Because of him we are stronger, more kind, & more alive. There is no denying that we will carry that with us forever.
Eddie is survived by his loving & dedicated mother Debbie Birtcil Young, his fiance Amy McCray, stepchildren Lena & Darrin Terry. His uncles Bob, Tom, Tim & Ted; Aunt Tammy, several cousins & his beloved nieces Cloee & Kylie, & nephew Jacob.
Eddie is preceded in death by his father Ed Lewis, his grandparents Jack Lewis, Amelia Lewis Morgan, Virginia Birtcil, Robert & Sandra Birtcil; his uncle Jack & cousins Hope, Bobby, & Joshua.
